Stihl Contra

(Ol' B.C. work horse)

Stihl Contra was the first one man Stihl chainsaw that really made its way to the woods for logging or for the farmer that had the extra funds for a higher end model firewood saw. It was also Stihl's big push after the war to get into the American market. It worked and they are plentiful especially on the west coast of North America.

The saw pictured here was an old logging saw retired to bucking firewood over in British Columbia Canada. It was used until the owner finally upgraded to a more modern "lighter" saw. (a 366xp Husqvarna). She still ran well after a carb kit and has plenty of life left!!
