ECHO CS-900 EVL
I was hoping to get one of these for a couple of years. The opportunity came to get one from a retired logger in the northern pan handle of Idaho. He used it for bucking firewood for almost 10 years. It wasn't a "West Coast" version with the large felling dawgs and full wrap handle as I would have expected. The saw had immense power in the cut as I would expect any early version non-reed powered saw from that era, power on the top end! " Torquey" to say the least. I ran the saw with full comp chain which was a mistake!!!! It would have really shined with semi skip.
Mechanically it is a solid saw. Built similar to modern saws and easy to tune by ear. Surprising it is to be set at 9,500 RPM max. If watched closely I think one can get away with close to 10,500. I am a bit on the cautious side of things and prefer factory specs myself. All in all it is an enjoyable saw to run with power to spare, and a must for any hardcore Echo collector.
