ECHO CST-610 EVL

The second Echo twin below I got from a local farmer's son.  They used it for firewood and cleaning the Sugar bush of stray species.  They held onto it for the grandfather to use.  This is probably one of, if not the smoothest saw I have ever ran.  Makes sense that it was pre-ordered by the grandfather.

Made in 1986, it is a great design of an opposed twin.  Firing simultaneously on both cylinders keeps this machine running and cutting as smooth as what you would expect from an electric saw.  Weighing in at just over 15lbs, she is a bit heavy.  If plastics could have been incorporated into the design freeing some weight, I think the design would have been better accepted.  Reed port and easy tuning makes this saw mechanically similar to most other reed port saws of that time.  Besides the dual cylinder design, the only noticed difference is the dual intake and dual flanger muffler.  Horizontally laid cylinders keep it a bit more compact than would be expected from twin vertical positioned cylinders.  All in all, it is by no means a power house of a saw with a comfortable size bar 18"-24".  Smooth, easy in the cut and just the fact that it is a TWIN CYLINDER makes this an all around fun saw to cut with.

This first shown Echo twin came in a trade.  I was able to get it cutting with a little work but would still need some work to really be brought back to it's true glory. (sharp chain would help! LOL)

Echo also made this exact saw for John Deere as the John Deere 66SV in yellow. Click on link below for pictures of one through the shop.
